S1000D - Business Rule Decision Point

BRDP-S1-00476 - Presentation of foldouts in page-oriented publications:

-

Decide where (eg, interspersed or at the end of the publication) the foldouts must be located in page-oriented publications.

Docuneering

Our Docuneering vendor-neutral S1000D Print & Publish stylesheets "currently" support the foldout element located at the "end of the publication".

We took this approach because the W3C XSL-FO specification does not support a nested "page-sequence" layout (e.g. A4 Portrait with nested A3 Landscape pages) but we found a simple[-ish] workaround to allow us to process the foldout located at the "end of the publication".

While this is a valid S1000D approach, we wanted to try and find a vendor-neutral method of processing "interspersed" foldout elements to better support our customers:

This "interspersed" foldout processing is still a work-in-progress and requires a lot more E-I-C testing, but we wanted to give the S1000D community a bit of an insight into the exciting progress we are making!
