S1000D Publication - Verify

- Monday, 24th August 2026

Your S1000D publication may pass:

  • DTD/schema validation
  • BREX validation
  • and even CALS Table validation

But it could still fail during publishing because a referenced Data Module or a referenced Illustration cannot be found.

Verify your build files

Starting with the selected root Publication Module, our XSLT Verify process follows every referenced Publication Module and checks that all required Data Modules and illustrations are available.

It also checks that each internal <dmRef> points to a Data Module included within the publication.

What does Verify check?

The process reports:

  • Root and referenced Publication Modules
  • Physical and auto-generated Data Modules
  • Referenced illustrations
  • Internal Data Modules-to-Data Modules links (<dmRef>)

This makes it easy to identify both the affected resource and where it occurs within the publication.

Clear results, informed decisions

Every item is reported as Found or Not found.

Missing files required to build the publication are clearly distinguished from unresolved internal links that may simply result in a dead link in the PDF deliverable.

Verify does not impose an overall pass or fail. The publishing team reviews the findings and decides whether any action is required.

Fits your publishing workflow

Verify can run independently as an XSL transformation or as part of an Apache Ant workflow, providing a quick and repeatable check before publishing begin.
