ATA CMP BREX Validation

- Friday, 10th June 2022

During the development of our ATA Component Maintenance Publication (CMP) stylesheets, one of the most time-consuming parts was the process of creating test data.

We can already hear the chorus of:

"Why didn’t you just use the Bike dataset?!?"

A perfectly valid question because, as we all know, you can download the S1000D Issue 4.2 Bike dataset from the www.s1000d.org website and there you have it but ... if you don't mind, we would like to answer that question with a picture:

IMPORTANT: Remember red icons, red highlights or red underlining is bad!

This is the S1000D Issue 4.2 Bike dataset viewed in Oxygen XML and batch validated against the ATA provided BREX. As you can see, there are just too many structural differences between standard S1000D and ATA Spec 1000BR to list them all here but hopefully this gives a flavour of the issue.

We wanted to start our stylesheet development work on a solid foundation and as such, we had no option but to create our own ATA Spec 1000BR_4.2 source data.
